Abderrahmane Rahoule
Born in 1944 in Casablanca, Abderrahmane Rahoule has spent over sixty years developing a dialogue between painting, sculpture and ceramics, shaped by the architecture of his native city.
Born in 1944 in Casablanca, Abderrahmane Rahoule is a major figure of modern and contemporary Moroccan art and an active member of the Casablanca Art School. His multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture and ceramics, alongside a long-standing engagement with art education and theory. His work is closely tied to the architectural forms and visual environment of Casablanca, particularly his native Derb Sultan district. Rahoule sustains an ongoing dialogue between painting, sculpture and ceramics, exploring volume, colour, fragmentation, juxtaposition and anthropomorphic forms, often drawing on Casablanca's architecture. He is also recognized for combining artistic practice with teaching and theoretical reflection.
